A College Student’s Thanksgiving Break

So it’s finally Thanksgiving break! I’ve been home for about four days now and there’s some things I’ve realized. First, how weird it is to come home and realize things have changed in the city you’ve grown up in. I find myself noticing the smallest details that have been taken away or added in my city. Or restaurants that were there before aren’t anymore. Or even walking around in the mall, I’ll notice that stores have changed into other stores. It just reminds me that the world definitely doesn’t wait up for you. You have to keep bettering yourself to keep up with the world and improving just for yourself as well. This is what I hope to accomplish in college, with this blog, and hopefully in the fashion world.

Another small happiness that comes with being home for the holidays is showering without shoes and simply having privacy. Any college student will understand when I say that sometimes it gets tiring to sharing everything around you with twenty other people. It’s great to be so close to all your friends, and I love that aspect of dorm life, but living fairly close to home has been a plus in that way. (All my college friends who are reading this, don’t worry, I love you all to pieces!)

Something that is a little more specific with my family, is when I come home for the holidays, my house is completely decked out in decorations for whatever we’re celebrating. In this instance, my family decorated very early for Christmas and I came home to garland on the staircase, the Christmas tree completely decorated, and nutcrackers taking over the mantle. This was the same for Halloween (a little army of scarecrows in the living room). This definitely has made me excited for Christmas vacation even more. Is it weird to anticipate a break from school during a break from school? If it is, that’s okay because I can’t wait for Christmas anyways hahaha. It was also very nice to be with my family, any college student will agree to that.

If you’re home from college for Thanksgiving as well, let me know some things you enjoy about being away from school for a bit. Or even some traditions for the holidays. I love hearing your guys’ responses so comment below! Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
