About nine months ago, I wrote a post called “Seven To Go.” It contained my thoughts about starting college in one week. I thought I’d make a similar posts also entitled “Seven To Go,” except this time I only have one more week left of my freshman year of college! It’s so crazy that I’m almost done with my first year. It went by extremely fast and I’ve changed so much. I never realized how much one person can change in one school year. Being on my own and making all new friends has been so beneficial to my life and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Sure, last summer I was scared and nervous and was completely unaware what was coming my way in college. But all that nervousness was worth it. I jumped into college head on and embraced the change. I’m so glad I did because I’ve done so many new things and met so many amazing people that I want in my life forever.
There were definitely some bumps along the road, but I learned to get past them and handle negative situations with grace. I wouldn’t have been able to get past those without the support of my family and best friends. I am so blessed to be going to school in such a gorgeous place and be surrounded by a positive, uplifting environment. Now that I only have one week left, I’m looking forward to the simplest things. For example, showering without shower shoes and having my own room to sleep in. However, this next week is going to be hectic with finals and wrapping up all of my classes with the end of my 15 page research paper and art projects. It’s going to feel weird next year not being on the bottom of the barrel anymore at my school. I’m looking forward to all the new opportunities coming my way next year and continuing all the friendships I’ve made this year.
One of the last things for me to do is wait for my boyfriend to get off of his plane. One year of long distance down! For those of you also in a long distance relationship, congratulations! You’ve completed one year without your significant other and that’s a huge accomplishment. Hope you all have great plans for the summer and are ready to relax and have some fun in the sun!
