Just went to one of the most amazing, fun concerts! If you follow my posts, you know I’m a huge fan of music, and I attend quite a few concerts. I write about them a lot, but this one is different. If you don’t know who Capital Cities are, a popular song by them is Safe and Sound; it plays on the radio every now and again. Their concert was held at the Fair Grounds in Orange County and my boyfriend had bought us tickets months in advance, so we’ve been anticipating this for a while.
I have seen this band one other time, when they were openers for the band Two Door Cinema Club. They were fantastic performers at that concert and they certainly didn’t fail this time around! I can’t explain what a fabulous experience this was, but I’ll try my best. There’s five people that make up the band, although I think technically the band is a duo officially. All of them were extremely engaging with the audience, which is why it was so fun! They danced with us and showed us exactly what to do. Considering what a huge audience it was, this was pretty impressive. I’ve never seen such a big audience dance through a whole concert like that. It was pretty cool to see; it was literally a giant dance party. I usually attend much smaller concerts with indie bands, but it was super fun to be in a crowd that was so into the music and knew every word. Probably the only other concert I’ve been to that was like this was Coldplay.
Another plus was the band sounded exactly like they did on the record. Some bands tend to not sound as good in person, but these guys were spot on. They truly had some amazing vocals. One fun, unique thing about Capital Cities though, is their extensive use of the trumpet. The man who played the trumpet (I actually don’t know his name, I apologize), was so enthusiastic and somehow turned a jazz instrument into something that brought everyone out of their seats. All in all, I’d 100% go to see them again! I definitely recommend going to see them if they’re touring near you. It’ll be one to remember and one of my favorite concerts!
By the way, I’m sorry for the not so clear pictures, it’s very hard to get decent photography with all the crazy lights at a concert like this one. 🙂
