Fashion Group International Back to Black Event!

1 revised2

So excited to share with you guys the event I attended on Wednesday night! I was invited by my friend to go to the Fashion Group International, or FGI, Back to Black networking event. It was held at the terrace of a hotel in downtown San Diego. The point of this event was to meet professionals in the fashion industry and network with them. This involved exchanging information and simply explaining what we were all about. I loved meeting so many amazing people that had accomplished so much in fashion and marketing.

The venue was absolutely gorgeous. It was decorated with lights strung across the terrace and red lounging chairs all along the sides. The white Grecian columns made it look even more elegant. The event was named “Back to Black” because everyone who attended had to come dressed in an all black outfit. I thought this was a super great idea, everyone looked amazing.

I’m sorry I didn’t get more detailed pictures of what I wore but I’ll do my best to explain: my dress has flared sleeves and came a few inches above my knees. The material was pretty thin, but that was fine for the warmer weather we’ve been having. I bought this at the boutique Girl Cave. This dress is backless, so I went to Urban Outfitters and bought one of their adorable lace black bralettes. This went perfect with the dress! I also needed to quickly buy a pair of heels. I actually found these pointy toed mauve ones at Forever 21. (They were pretty uncomfortable but perfect for if you needed to buy last minute shoes). These were $20. I then dressed it up with accessories. I threw on some gold knuckle rings and a gold layered necklace I’ve had for a while. For my hair, I made a couple braids and tied them back with a gold hair clip I also got at Urban Outfitters. Lastly, I curled my hair and I was done!

The night was absolutely amazing and I’m so blessed I got to attend. If you’re a high school or college student and looking in a particular direction for a career, I would really suggest going to networking events. Even if they aren’t as fancy as this one, definitely go. They’re a great place to meet working professionals and get your name out there. You never know what opportunities will come your way! Hope you all had a great week and happy fall!
