Current Music Favorites!

Hey guys! I wanted to list out some of the bands and albums that I have been really enjoying lately! Since it is the fall/winter time, I tend to lean toward darker sounding music. Not necessarily sad, just music to match the current weather. My absolute favorite genre of music is alternative, so if you’re not into that, I apologize, but this list will consist of that type of music. So here they are!

The first album I have been completely obsessed with is The Neighbourhood’s newest album called Wiped Out! You are probably all familiar with the song Sweater Weather. That song is from their last album, but I am not as familiar with that one. This new one is so amazing and they definitely have that dark tone that I love. I also really love the simple album art. The all black with the white image is perfect, and of course I love that beachy vibe with the palm tree and seagull! It was very smart of them to keep that upside down house that they have pictured on their last album as well. It keeps their look and representation very cohesive and organized. A few songs I particularly love are: R.I.P. 2 My Youth, The Beach, Daddy Issues, and Greetings from Califournia. I linked the music video to R.I.P. 2 My Youth above if you’re interested in listening!

A single song I have really been enjoying is from Vance Joy. It’s called the Fire and the Flood. I think it just has a really great, upbeat sound to it. It’s a great love song and the video is amazing as well. It’s very artistic and not to mention, that apartment is BOMB! I saw him at a private concert this summer and he is a great performer. He’s also such a sweet and funny person, which makes me enjoy his music even more! You all are probably familiar with Riptide as well, which is probably his biggest hit. Check out the rest of his album if you like these songs!

The next song I’ve been absolutely obsessed with lately is Stressed Out by 21 Pilots. It’s probably the closest I’ll get to listening to a rap song, haha! But the lead singer is a great rapper and the vibe is super cool. I definitely recommend checking out the video for it as well. It’s extremely artistic and you can tell a ton of work went into it. I love the old school vibe and them acting like they are kids. 21 Pilots have the most unique, interesting lyrics I have probably ever heard and I keep falling more in love with them. I really need to check out the rest of their album, because I’m sure it’s just as sick as this song!

Another entire album that I’ve actually loved for a few years now is Lorde Pure Heroin. She has a very dark sound, just like The Neighbourhood does. Her beats have always been so unique and unexpected. Even with her recent songs she’s done for movies, they never fail to disappoint. She is definitely one of my favorite artists of all time and I hope she never changes her sound. I love this album for all times of the year, but especially for the winter time. It’s got that colder, darker days vibe that totally fits the mood for December. Some of my favorite songs from this album are Bravado, Buzzcut Season, A World Alone, Royals, and Glory and Gore. I adore every single song from this album, but these definitely stand slightly higher than the rest for me.

And last, but not least, for driving on a gloomy day, I love listening to Alt J. Alt J is an indie/alternative band and they definitely have a very distinct sound. A lot of their music is very instrumental, but when the lead singer jumps in, his voice is like heaven! He has the most unique voice I have ever heard and it’s hard to stop listening. I absolutely love bands like them that are just so unique that you can pick out their songs right when it starts playing. Some of my favorite songs from their album An Awesome Wave are Tessellate, Breezeblocks, Fitzpleasure, and Matilda.

So I hope you guys enjoy this list of music or that it gives you some new musical options to listen to! These are some very good alternative bands and artists so if you’re looking to get into that type of genre, I definitely recommend starting with these. Hope you all are having a great week and happy December! ❤
