Hello lovely people! The past month or so I have been extra motivated to workout more often and eat a lot healthier. I couldn’t tell you what caused this change in me, it just kind of hit me one day that I should be trying a little harder to be my best self! I think knowing that I am still young and not taking advantage of that started to bother me. So here are the major changes that I have made and how I stay motivated to maintain this lifestyle.
- I became pescetarian! I have a whole blog post about that here, so check it out if you want a more in depth explanation of why I made the switch. I also have a more updated post about my journey here. Long story short, I cut out the meat (except fish) and I’ve felt so great! I’m definitely glad I did it and I’m considering veganism for some time in the future.
- I workout 3-4 times a week. For me, I feel more motivated if I work out every other day. As long as I get to the gym or go on a run 3 or 4 times a week, I can definitely see a difference. I’m very consistent about it and I actually have been enjoying my workouts! For me, the key was finding what works best for my body and what makes me what to go consistently. I found my favorite workouts and created a little system for myself. Sometimes I’ll even go more than 3-4 times if I’m up for it.
So what exactly keeps me motivated? I absolutely love going on YouTube and subscribing to health/fitness channels. There are so many of them out there that give you amazing ideas for workouts and even some healthy recipes! My favorites are a lot of the vegan YouTubers. They really inspire me to eat healthier and actually think about what I’m putting into my body. (It’s a motivator that keeps me on my pescetarian journey as well). If you think this would help you, I recommend checking out montanadanna and LoveSweatFitness.
Another way to stay motivated is to visualize your goal. This is probably super common advice given to a lot of people, but go on Instagram and follow fitness accounts! If you see photos of people working out or photos of healthy body types, it will motivate you to make that your own reality. Everyone’s bodies are different, so don’t assume the results you get will match that skinny girl or guy on Instagram. But let their progress be motivation to you to achieve your healthiest self.
This tip is related to the last one, but it’s also good to visualize or see photos of healthy meals. It’s been so fun for me to see vegan or vegetarian meals that I can try at home. There’s so many that I want to try out! One thing I’ve been making super often is fruit smoothies and drinking them after my workout. Making mass amounts of smoothies has been great for me. I’ll make about four smoothies so I can simply grab one right after I get home from a workout. It’s so easy and you can even make a smoothie bowl out of them by throwing in some cut up fruit and granola! I definitely recommend making your smoothies ahead of time so you know you’ll have that healthy reward after working hard! (I have a bunch of the smoothies I made up on my Instagram, which you can follow @sageoliviablog!)
I hope some of these tips help you all stayed motivated to be healthy! I know they’ve really worked for me and I don’t intend on stopping this lifestyle anytime soon. It’s been so fun and even though I have a ways to go, I’m enjoying the process. Hope you all are enjoying the start of the summer season! ❤
