Talkative Tuesday: Chopping My Hair Off!

Hey everyone! Yay, finally another Talkative Tuesday! I’ve missed sitting down and just writing. There’s something therapeutic about writing your thoughts down. I remember learning about Stream of Consciousness in high school and finding it so interesting! I love that I get the chance to do that here. This week’s Talkative Tuesday is about making changes in your life, big or small. For me, I recently made a major change. It may not seem immense to some, but for me, this was a daring move! I cut my hair shorter than I ever have before!

My whole life I’ve always had very, very long hair. I considered myself a person that could only feel good with long hair. It was totally me, up until a couple weeks ago that is. I know a lot of girls, including myself found a lot of confidence because of our hair. However, when I hit my teen years and started to develop severe acne, it became something used to cover up all my spots. It was a security blanket that hid what I thought were immense flaws in my appearance.

I became so used to having my hair long throughout my life. A few months ago, I realized I didn’t look that different than when I did as a sophomore in high school. I’m now a junior in college and I knew it was time to make a change, even if that just meant cutting my hair. But little did I know what a difference that would make for me. I’ve been overwhelmed with kind comments from friends and even people I don’t know. It’s somehow made me look so much more mature and I don’t think people will be mistaking me for a 16 year old anymore (haha).

What I’m trying to get across is, if you’re not happy with something in your life, change it! As afraid as I was to break away from something that has been a security blanket for me, I’m SO happy I took the leap and did something out of the ordinary. Sometimes all it takes is a little courage and a little “Oh, what the heck, I’m gonna do it!” In whatever situation, take that small step or the big leap to get wherever you’ve been dreaming of. I’ll insert a little photo below of my new cut. It’s about shoulder length with a lot of layering. If you’d like to see the difference, check out some of my OOTD’s here and here. Hope all of your weeks are going well!<3
