Hi friends! When I first started my blog a few years ago, I came across all of the blogger award chains that go around and got nominated for a few. I answered the questions, not really knowing what it would do for my blog at that time. Now that I’ve been blogging for a while, I now know its an awesome way to connect with other bloggers while also letting your readers know a little bit more about you. It’s the perfect combination for a blog post! Loving the Fifty Something kindly nominated me for the Liebster Award, which was so nice, so I will be forwarding it to 11 more bloggers and answering the questions! Let’s get right into it!
1. What is your favorite part of blogging?
I’ve actually never been asked this question before! There are so many things I adore about blogging, but recently it’s been connecting with the community on WordPress. A while back I thought all I needed to do to make my blog grow was post, post, post! But now I realize connecting with all of you is just as if not more important. My blog is a hobby and in the back of my mind one day I hope it turns into more, and to get to that point you need to network and be sociable! Which I want to do regardless of what happens in the future, because reading your comments and hearing about others’ lives is so intriguing and fun for me! Getting away from real life and sharing thoughts with those who have similar interests as you is quite the perfect escape.
2. What country, city or continent would you most like to visit and why?
Considering I just came back from Europe about a month ago, I am absolutely dying to go back. So I’d have to say Europe, specifically Scotland, Ireland, or Sweden. I think those countries have a lot to offer and beautiful sights to see and I’m definitely not afraid of traveling anymore. However, I also have never been to New York. It’s only a 5 or 6 hour plane ride away and I’ve never gotten a chance to visit! The closest I’ve gotten is Boston, which is so beautiful, but I’d love to see Times Square, Central Park, and have a little Friends moment in a coffee shop.
3. What was the most inspirational time in your life so far?
Again, I’m so sorry but I have to reference my recent travels. Going to 5 different countries in three and a half weeks pushed me to my limits and showed me I am more capable of strength than I ever knew before. It was scary, exciting, thrilling, and I saw some of the most gorgeous things I’ve ever laid my eyes on from art, architecture, to culture. It showed me my home here in the United States is ONE culture that makes up part of the world, and not the most important one. I think traveling really opens your eyes up to the fact that not everything revolves around you or your country. There is a whole world out there with different opinions, customs, and traditions just waiting to be explored. Getting out of my comfort zone was one of the most inspiring things I’ve felt and I encourage anyone to do the same if they get the opportunity!
4. What are you passionate about?
Throughout my 21 years I’ve developed a lot of passions and interests, but in the past four years, my love of art has grown tremendously. It has branched off into a new love for Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Lettering, and so much more. There are so many options out there when it comes to a career in art and I am very passionate and driven to achieve that. Blogging in itself is a very artistic/creative process and I think that’s why I love it so much. When it comes to writing, photos, and layout, I can’t get enough of it! I’m also very passionate about getting an education. College has been a great experience for me and now that I’m graduating at the end of this year, I would encourage anyone to pursue a college education. It isn’t an easy process for anybody, but I am very proud of myself for completing these last four years. It’s a big accomplishment and I’m happy I stuck through it.
5. What is your favorite book and why?
Honestly, I haven’t done much reading throughout the years. High school kind of took the fun out of reading for me, but when I was a kid I would read for hours on end. The Great Gatsby is a classic and I loved that book so much. This last semester I actually read a short story/play for my World Literature class called Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme (which translates to The Bourgeois Gentleman) by Molière. It was a comedy and one of the funniest pieces of literature I’ve ever read. It had the same effect of The Importance of Being Earnest, if you’re familiar with that work.
6. What is your favorite time of year?
Without a doubt, SUMMER! In my home town, the weather is pretty much perfect year round, give or take a few weeks of gloomy/rainy days. But in the summer, it’s always hot and make for perfect pool and beach days. Summer days are long, so you can stay out later and have more adventures! This season has always brought good memories for me, with summer traditions when I was younger, to my friends coming home from far away colleges. I really enjoy cooler weather once in a while and the vibe of the Autumn season as well, but Summer definitely takes the cake in my mind and experience!
7. What are other interests you have besides blogging?
I really enjoy sketching and lettering. Of course I love photography, especially when it comes to fashion photography for this blog. I also really enjoy spending time at the beach, attempting to surf, paddle boarding and beach activities along those lines. I also really enjoy catching up with old friends. As I’ve gone through college, old friends have come in and out of my life and I really love hearing how they’re doing.
8. Do you prefer the beach or the mountains?
Beach, beach, BEACH! (The mountains kind of scare me, tbh).
9. Where did you go for your most memorable vacation?
I think you guys know…EUROPE BABY!! My favorite place was definitely London!
10. Do you prefer a sunny or a rainy day?
This depends actually. For the majority of the time, sunny but not super hot. I absolutely love rainy days though since we don’t get them too often where I live. Once in a while, rainy days actually tend to lift my spirits and make me feel inspired.
11. If you had a day all to yourself, how would you spend it?
Cool question! Honestly I have a handful of activities that could make up my perfect day. I’d probably wake up around 8/8:30 in the morning and go to the gym or a beach run for about an hour. I’d come back, get ready for the day, and probably make a smoothie or smoothie bowl. If not, I’d go out to brunch with a friend. I love spending whole days at the beach, so I’d probably do that and end the day with a sunset picnic dinner or a bonfire with a group of peeps. Other perfect days for me would include spending the whole day in a big city like San Diego or Los Angeles and simply exploring. I love finding new places to eat and fun locations to take photos. It’s great memories for me, I always tend to look back with fondness on those types of days.
Optional Bonus Question from Me: What is your favorite motto for your life? Are there any wise words you try to live by?
