Hey loves! For some reason whenever fall rolls around every year, I start to listen to very specific artists and albums. I’m not quite sure why I do this, but there are certain albums that just illuminate an autumn vibe. I suppose its the same thing as listening to Christmas music during Christmas? I don’t know, but I wanted to share some of the artists I’ve been listening to as the weather starts to cool down and as the rain (hopefully) begins to fall. I’d also love to hear if you guys do the same thing during the fall. What’s on the top of your playlists right now??
Panic! At the Disco
I can’t tell you guys how much I freaking love Panic! The very first song I ever heard by them was Nine in the Afternoon when I was in like middle school! I was obsessed with it and with them. Panic! at first had many members that made up the band but now consists of only the lead singer, Brendon Urie. Every one of their albums is pure gold and Brendon is one of my biggest celebrity crushes. His newest album Death of a Bachelor (which isn’t so new anymore) has this very suave feel to it. It’s very sophisticated while still being 100% Panic! At the Disco. They’ve always had that dark, teenage angst vibe that I live for. Recently I’ve been getting into their music again and shuffling all the albums on Spotify. It’s great if you want to jam in the car and turn the volume all the way up. Be sure to check out the band if you’re not super familiar with him!
Some of my favorites from them (in no particular order):
Nine in the Afternoon
Emperor’s New Clothes
I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Death of a Bachelor
Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time
Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off
I don’t know why, but I ALWAYS listen to Lorde in the fall/winter time. Her voice and the vibe she has in all of her songs are just perfect to me. I obsess over her music all the time but specifically during this time of the year I always tend to listen to her first album, Pure Heroine. She is just such an inspiration to me, being such a young artist so full of beautiful words. Her first album also takes me back to my high school days, which seems like such a simpler time now. It’s crazy how music can transport you like that. Her beats are so unique, so if you love alternative/indie music, I definitely recommend checking her out. She just came out with a new album, Melodrama, which has a gorgeous oil painting of her as the cover. Let me know your thoughts on her, because I’ve heard so many different opinions and I’d love to know what you guys think!
My faves from Lorde:
A World Alone
White Teeth Teens
So this should come as no surprise, haha. Coldplay is my favorite band over anyone else and I love them year round. Actually, they’re playing in San Diego tonight about a mile from my apartment and I’m pretty heart broken I’m not seeing them this minute. I’m super lucky to have seen them perform a couple times before though. They are just so amazing and SO CLOSE TO ME RIGHT NOW! I seriously can’t get over it guys, HELP! But some of their older albums like Parachutes is great for this season. A lot of their songs are very laid back and great to just chill to. I honestly could go on and on about them, but I’ll spare you guys that novel of a post. Here are some of my absolute favorites from them, even though its so hard to choose!
Death and All His Friends
Princess of China
A Rush of Blood to the Head
In My Place
Honestly, every single song they’ve ever put out from every album ever.
I’m pretty sure Ed is someone everyone likes to listen to in the fall. Every one of his albums just has that specific vibe. Do you guys know what I mean by “vibe”? I don’t know, I hope you do. But like that softer, more relaxed feeling that music sometimes gives. Ed Sheehan is definitely the epitome of that and he just seems like such a genuine person on top of that. He is another artist that takes me back years to when I was in high school with his music. At times it gives me that sad nostalgia, so I have to really be in the mood for it, and that’s usually in the autumn time. I’d love to see him play live and experience his talent for myself.
Favorite songs from Ed:
Thinking Out Loud
The A Team (of course)
Castle on the Hill
The Neighbourhood is a band I specifically only listen to in the winter or fall. It isn’t intentional, it just always somehow happens that way. If you want that dark, heavy, rainy feel, try out their newest album “Wiped Out.” This is as perfect as you can get when you’re wanting that alternative style. Every song on this album is amazing and something I will always come back to. The bands members are also quite young, which I think is cool. They have such a mature sound, so this was surprising to me. I also really enjoy their album art. The fact that it’s black and white but still very visual is super amazing. It’s simple and sleek and matches the tone of the music perfectly. Definitely check them out if you don’t know much about them!
Best song from them (in my opinion):
Sweater Weather (had to include it)
R.I.P. To My Youth
Greetings from Califournia
I hope you guys enjoyed this list of artists! Let me know if you love these songs or albums as much as I do! I love bonding with people over music since it’s always been very important to me. Little known fact, I’ve played piano since I was 5 so music is a big part of my life. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts about this autumnal music! xx
