Blogmas Day 9: Warm Holiday Makeup Look!

Hey everyone! I’m so excited I got around to taking some makeup photos. A makeup post was one of the things on my list that I wanted to write about for Blogmas. I tend to switch around when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, but for this look I stuck almost entirely to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. It’s funny actually, sometimes I have a hard time creating the perfect color combo with this palette, and other times (like these) it completely blows me away. I’ve been using this look quite frequently. It’s extremely warm with the maroon undertones and simply perfect for any Christmas event! Keep reading for some great holiday makeup tips!

Quick Makeup Tutorial

As a transition shade, I used a combination of Burnt Orange and Realgar with a fluffy brush and took quite some time to blend it out. Blending is everything, girlies! I then used a combo of Love Letter and Venetian Red and placed that along the outer half of my eye. I also made sure that this color was blended well at the middle section of my lid. Next, I placed Red Ochre on my Outer V and kept it very concentrated there. After all this, I took a clean fluffy brush and made sure all these hues were blended out nicely. The Love Letter/Venetian Red mix was then placed all across my lower lash line and Red Ochre was placed on the outer half of my lower lash line. This created a nice gradient that really pulled the whole look together! Finally, since I was working with quite the glittery shade, I placed Birthday Girl from ColourPop on the middle and inner corner of my lid. To add an extra something, I also put this color right in the middle of my lower lash line. This has been a little trick I’ve been using super often, and I just love the effect it gives.

Lastly, I created a very thin wing with the Stila Waterproof Eyeliner in Black and threw on some Waterproof Better Than Sex mascara from Too Faced!

I really love how bright this look is with the glittery shadow. It has some brown/purple undertones in the little bottle, and that pairs very well with the red tones. As a person with brown eyes, I like to wear warm colored eyeshadows (specifically pinks and reds) because it brings out the green colors in my eyes. To be honest, you can only ever see those if I wake up extremely early and my eyes are red from exhaustion, lol. Just college things, right?

Many reviews that I’ve read and watched online are always very positive when it comes to the Modern Renaissance palette. I’m partial to all the Urban Decay palettes, but this one is amazing as well. If you are unfamiliar with ColourPop, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go. It’s online and very affordable! The products (from what I’ve experienced) are very good quality and I’d definitely buy from them again, even though this little eyeshadow color was a birthday gift!

I really hope you guys enjoyed this mini makeup tutorial! I always have a lot of fun creating them and writing about my process, especially since that’s exactly how I learned to do makeup! I thought about doing this in a video format, but wasn’t so sure. Maybe that’s a goal I could set for the new year? P.S. I’m sorry for my nails, but real life gets busy during finals! Let me know your thoughts about this look down in the comments, and leave any makeup tips or suggestions that (Colour) pop into your mind, lol! See you guys tomorrow!

Let’s hang!
