Wow guys, I can’t believe I’m writing this post. As of right now, the first downpour of the season is happening in San Diego. As I’m listening to the water fall against the concrete at the back of my apartment and watching each little droplet race down the window, I’m wondering where the last four years of my life went. Tomorrow will officially be my last first day of school. What the H??? When did that happen? As you may or may not know, depending on when you found my blog, I am a Graphic Design major at a small school in San Diego. I am planning on going to grad school after a gap year, but I can’t help but feel like this part of my life is ending; like I’m closing a chapter to a book (as cheesy as that sounds). I’ve put so much blood, sweat, and tears (sometimes lots and lots of tears) into these last four years and I can hardly believe it’s coming to a close.
I wanted to talk about this on my blog because one of the major “themes” (I guess you could call it) has been my journey through college. Whether that’s giving advice about college life, or new places I’ve been because of this city. I made my first post the summer before freshman year! I love talking about college on here, and I think it fits my demographic very well. However, since I am a soon to be graduate, I’ve been pondering how my blog will be evolving. I used to be so afraid of change in high school and at the start of college, but I now realize evolving is absolutely necessary for growth even though it may not seem like it at some points. I’m excited for what is to come not only in my life personally, but how that will be reflected in my writing and this entire blog in general.
I am so ready for this semester. Of course I am a little scared to put together my entire portfolio and have it viewed by working design professionals, but I’m trying to stay positive! The day of my graduation I’m hoping will be one of the most exciting and impactful days of my life. Wish me luck and if you’re a college student or have already graduated, please feel free to leave any advice down below! Lastly, to give you a little laugh, and for me to properly document this time in my life, here’s a little throwback of my first day at preschool! Can I just mention the blue snakeskin pants and the dog plastered on my long sleeve tee? How times have changed (especially in fashion)! Talk to you all soon!
