The day has finally come! I am officially a college graduate with a degree in Graphic Design. Words cannot describe this feeling, partly because I’m not quite sure how to feel about it. I am overjoyed, excited, grateful, nervous, unsure, and hopeful all at the same time. Saturday was the day of graduation and throughout these past few days I’ve been asked: “So, what’s next for you?” Although I’m not quite sure what’s next for me, I am passionate about so many things and extremely excited to join the work force in a field I love. I really wanted this post to go up this weekend, but with the festivities and moving out of my apartment, things got very hectic. However, the day was absolutely beautiful with gorgeous weather, lots of sunshine and love from family. We took lots of photos, so keep reading to check those out!
This is the Greek amphitheater where the ceremony took place. Although my university did not have Greek life, we have this lovely amphitheater which made for the most beautiful moments. It was about an hour and a half long, starting and ending with a prayer and the reading of everyone’s names.
Here are a few photos of me waving to my fam up in the stands. The president of PLNU handed me my diploma and as you can see, I was pretty dang excited about it! The whole ceremony seemed so surreal and at times I couldn’t believe it had been four whole years that I’d spent at this university. It had finally come to an end.
We stopped by the art department to say goodbye to some of my professors and take some pics in front of the ocean view. I’ve been very blessed all four years to have such an amazing environment to study in. All of my art classes took place with a wide view of the Pacific and lots of palms. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better location! Here is also a photo of me and my sister. My family was extremely supportive through this entire process and encouraged my artistic mind to explore and grow.
The rest of these photos I took about a month and a half ago, but wanted to wait until graduation to post them. They were taken by a photographer named Ryan Kratz. Check out his Instagram, and his photography website! The photos were shot on my university’s campus, on the cliffs next to the ocean and in the Greek.
My years in college were filled with some high highs and at times some low lows. I’ve met some amazing friends and learned how to deal with difficult or hurtful situations. I am leaving here a different, more educated, and more confident person. I know currently the debate about attending college is very torn. However, as someone who has successfully graduated from an institution, I would 100% recommend attending college if you have the means. It brings so many unfathomable opportunities, which personally allowed me to explore the world outside of California and has provided me with professional connections in my field of study.
Thank you to Point Loma Nazarene University and all the art and design professors who have truly taught me everything I know about those subjects. To my friends and family, who again supported me financially and emotionally through this time. And of course I have to throw in a shoutout to God, who alone has made this all happen and gotten me through some tough times. I am excited to push restart on my life and see what could happen for me in fashion, beauty, blogging, and graphic design! Thanks so much for reading, and hope you have an amazing day!
