Hello, everyone! Well, Happy Valentine’s Day!! Or for some of us, Galentine’s Day! This holiday can bring up a lot of different emotions for people. Whether that’s excitement, happiness, sadness, dread, or of course LOVE. Personally, it’s been a mix of everything for me this year. Being single for a couple years now, I’ve never made a big hype out of Valentine’s Day. It’s one of those holidays that are made for consumers. Companies are dying for you to go out to Target and buy little trinkets with hearts or cheesy sayings all over them. Which some of them are actually cute if you look hard enough, but the reality is that it’s a holiday for companies to make money.
On the flip side, it’s a great opportunity to spoil the ones you love. Maybe not with kitschy (i.e. tacky) gifts but with your time and thoughtfulness. If you’re in a relationship you should probably be doing special things often, but Valentine’s Day is a chance to make it that much more beautiful for your one person. If you’re single, it’s an opportunity to show some love to yourself, your friends, and family. Something I would do when I had my apartment in San Diego was buy myself flowers. Walking to the store to pick some up, and going back to arrange them in a little pot was so fun! Not to mention, it really livens up a room and makes you feel oddly stronger.
Alright so after that rant, let’s get to today’s post. Recently I’ve picked up a few items to add to my wardrobe. I’ve been selling a ton of stuff on Poshmark, so if you want to see all the things I have available, definitely check it out! As some of you may know, a lot of things I buy are simply black. I’m most comfortable in it, but your girl has branched out!! Yes, I’ve bought some PINK things! Check out the photos below to see what I got! P.S. yes, I took these titles from new Ariana Grande songs, which have surprisingly grown on me and are completely relevant to this Valentine’s Day post xx
Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored
Naturally, I was seeing a ton of pink and red pieces out in stores recently. Lots of hearts and graphics. Personally I know I will only wear these things around Valentine’s Day, so I’d rather not buy them. However, when you find something that’s great for the holiday AND something you can wear in the spring, you’ve got an awesome piece! For me, this blush pink crop top not only fits my style but is perfect for the month of February. With spring around the corner and the warmer weather coming, a long sleeve crop top is the perfect transition piece.
Alright fam, grab your jackets because it’s STILL raining in SoCal. I’ve been doing lots of layering lately and this fuzzy jacket has been my go-to! The other day when I was shopping, I was looking specifically for Teddy jackets. You know, the ones EVERYONE has been wearing. They really are adorable, all the ones I tried on were simply too big and weren’t flattering on my body. However, I found this gem at Melrose in the O.C. the other day and is from the brand Miss Love. I threw the over the blush crop top and I was comfy all night!
Another aspect I really love about both the top and the jacket are the buttons that run down the front. They both have gorgeous bohemian buttons that give a sweet, casual vibe. The top is made of a fairly thin material, and the jacket isn’t incredibly thick like most Teddy Jackets. When combined, they give you the perfect amount of warmth and style!
As for pants, I’ve been obsessing over this black pair. I own a few different styles of black jeans (because I freaking LOVE them), but this pair is special. They are flared at the end which is such a 70’s vibe. I honestly didn’t think I was going to like the way these looked on my body, but when I was in the dressing room, I knew I needed them. I also threw on my leopard belt, which as you guys know, has been my go-to accessory. At this point I should probably buy more belts to add some variety, but this has been my #1 accessory of 2019.
To go with the black flare jeans, I’ve been wearing my Doc Martens. I recently made a whole post about 3 different ways I style my Docs, which was also a collaboration post! There’s plenty ideas of how to wear these shoes in that post. I of course love how they look with this outfit as well. They’re so incredibly edgy and not to mention, have been perfect for this rainy season. Another accessory I haven’t taken off is my Tiffany’s double heart necklace. It comes in Tiffany blue, pink, and plain silver versions. I have the pink necklace and it’s paired perfectly with all my blush pink February looks!
Thank You, Next
Yes, I know this is SO PINK!! I can genuinely say I have no sweater that is this kind of shade. However, I knew I needed it because of the cut. I have a couple sweaters that are the same oversized, distressed style and I wear them constantly! If you know a certain style is your favorite, I don’t think there’s any problem with buying more when you know you’ll wear them. This one specifically will be great for February or if you’re having a cozy night in with your Valentine.
I love how the neckline, wrist area, and bottom are all frayed and look super distressed. It’s such a unique element to a sweater that could otherwise be very simple and look like any other brand. The knit material is extremely soft and I just can’t get enough of the coziness! Not going to lie to you guys, this sweater would be perfect to cuddle up next to someone and watch a movie for Valentine’s Day.
The jeans I’m wearing are actually the same exact pair as the first outfit, but in blue jean form. They are flared and frayed at the bottoms, making them the perfect candidate for boots or platform shoes. This pair are actually a smaller size than the black pair and fit a bit better on me. They are from the brand Just Black, so if you end up checking them out, I recommend buying a size down. The material usually stretches about half a size (which I prefer in jeans)!
As for shoes, I had to whip out my snakeskin booties from Steve Madden. These have been a staple of mine for a while, whether I’m going out or taking a trip to L.A. At the end of 2018 (and into 2019) I’ve loved mixing brighter shades with animal print. For example, I love wearing yellow with leopard print and (as seen above) pink with snakeskin. For some reason the combination is very unique and I’m super into it!
Which look was your favorite? Was there a specific piece that stood out to you? Hope you all enjoyed taking a step out of my comfort zone with me, LOL. Pink just might be my new thing? I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Don’t forget even if you don’t have a date this year, you have SO MANY years to look forward to and making yourself feel amazing ON YOUR OWN is equally as important!!
P.S. I’ve filmed my first style/clothing haul and I can’t wait to share it with you. A new OOTD will also be coming Monday!! I’ve been trying to keep on a regular Wednesday/Friday schedule but I ended up with extra content!!
