Throwing it Back to the 2000’s OOTD

Hello, guys! Recently I’ve been taking quite a few trips up to L.A., so my apologies for my absence on the blog. I’ve had this OOTD planned for quite a while and I’ve been really excited to share it with you all! I have been so into the layering trend as of late. Layering has come in and out of fashion so many times, it’s insane! When I was younger and in middle school, layering was all the rage and to be honest I’m pretty happy it’s becoming a thing again. We’re throwing it back to the 2000’s in today’s OOTD, so keep reading for all the photos and details! IMG_5516.JPG

I’ve had to get creative with my clothes recently to stay warm in this rainy weather. I’m honestly still baffled by all the cold weather but it’s been fun to change up some of my styles! I have to say I’ve been quite obsessed with this gray turtle neck. The material is very thin, so you most definitely MUST use this as a layering piece. Whether that’s a detailed bralette that shows through underneath, or a strappy blouse layered on top of it. I remember back in 2008 I would always wear a very similar style: a bright colored t-shirt with a strappy colored cami on top. I like to think of this OOTD as a more mature, evolved version of the brightly colored (and at times embarrassing) outfits I loved as a kid from Limited Too. Who else remembers that store??

This strappy black blouse is the absolute perfect staple for any wardrobe. I’m a bit obsessed with it if I’m being honest. The fringe along the bust area is the sweetest detailing and adds a bit of texture to the look. The adjustable straps are simple and not too thick, making this a very comfortable and easy to wear top. Regarding the actual cut, it is quite flowy and easy to tuck into jeans. It is from Nordstrom (from the brand Socialite) and it comes in a variety of different colors including pink, green, red, and white. I may need to head back to Nordstrom and pick up a few other colors because I’ll be wearing this one to death! If you’d like to purchase this top, click here!

As for jeans, I threw on my black flare jeans. You can see these styled with another look in my “Outfit Ideas for Valentine’s Day” post! They’ve been extremely versatile and I’m just such a big fan of black jeans! We’re now moving away from the 2000’s and throwing it back to the 70’s with these flare jeans! I love the mixing of styles in this OOTD and bringing some oldies but goodies into 2019. Of course, I paired these with my black Doc Martens because I think the jeans look BOMB with them! Any platform shoe will look great with these pants but I prefer my classic Docs.

As for accessories, I’m wearing my Tiffany’s double heart necklace. If you’d like to know more details about this necklace, check it out on Tiffany’s here. It comes in a few different versions, but I have the pink one! I’ve been loving it for Valentine’s Day and the month of February in general. I also have on my western inspired belt. As you all know, I’ve been extremely into belts lately. They’re such an easy accessory to throw on and completely tie together an outfit! I’ve never been such a fan of them, but I’m glad I am currently! I believe I purchased this belt from Urban Outfitters years ago and I wouldn’t be surprised if they still sell it. However, I did a little digging and found an identical version on Asos for cheap! Click here to check out this belt.

It’s been so long since I’ve posted a makeup look on this blog, but recently I’ve been going for a rosy/pink eye look! Normally I love neutral tones and don’t go very bright with my makeup. However, this February I’ve loved some pink shimmer with the wine tones. I think it pairs so nicely with this mostly black look and gives a lovely pop of color to the face. I’ve been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills “Norvina” palette specifically for this look. I’ve been thinking of making a YouTube video going step by step on how to create it. If you’d like to see that or are interested, leave a comment below!

I hope you guys enjoyed this little throwback to the 2000’s with this layered OOTD. It’s been my favorite look recently, so let me know which piece is your favorite in this outfit down in the comments! Have an awesome start to your week and I’ll talk to you guys very soon! xx

I have been watching some old 00s movies recently and am shocked at all the clothes that used to be fashionable – leggings under skirts or shorts for one. It is so weird to think how much fashion changes in such a short amount of time.
    Love your make-up! xx
