Hello loves! Hope you have all been well this week, we finally made it to Friday. That’s something to be celebrated! For today’s post, I have a new Outfit of the Day. To be quite honest, I am SO obsessed with this look, and if you follow me on Instagram, I’ve been posting about it nonstop. Hopefully you guys aren’t too sick of it, but I’m including all the outfit details in this post so you can check them out for yourself! With springtime in full swing and summer soon on the way, this look is perfect for a day out with the girls or a daytime date!
Throw on your Docs and let’s get ready for spring! While the warmer weather is about to kick in, we’re still having a couple chilly days here in SoCal. I’ve been opting for skirts and sundresses lately with boots or tennis shoes, just in case the clouds roll in. If you guys have been reading my blog for a while, you know I’m obsessed with a feminine/edgy look. The perfect combination of girly/flirty and a “don’t mess with me” vibe. I quite literally can’t stop wearing this “Heart of Gold” t-shirt from Nordstrom. It’s an all black, oversize tee with the cutest leopard print pattern at the front, (and we all know how in style animal print has been recently).
The shirt also has some killer white lettering and stars. It’s such a punk rock look and reminds me so much of the 80’s and 90’s. (Shoutout to all my 90’s babies out there!) I’ve gotten into the habit of rolling the sleeves a couple times to give it a bit more style, although unrolled the shirt would be equally as cute. Since it is so oversized, I do lose my shape a bit. To combat that, I’ve been tying the shirt up at the front and around my waist. Rolling the sleeves or tying up any shirt makes it more unique to you and I love that I can play around with this top.
Alright so, let’s move onto the skirt. I was at the mall the other day and for some reason I had the inclination to walk into Abercrombie & Fitch. The last time I was in one of their stores or had one of their clothing items was when I was 10 or 11 years old. They were very popular back in the day but the brand has seemed to fizzle out a bit. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a couple of pieces that I LOVE! This black, white, and yellow skirt is something I picked up from them, and I’ve been wearing the heck out of it. Paired with the tied up graphic tee, I’m loving the grungey vibe.
With black buttons all the way down the front, it has such a Clueless look to it. I’m obsessed with that movie, so it’s cool to put my own little spin on it. I’ll admit sometimes I need to roll this skirt in order for it to fit a bit better, but with a shirt tied up on top of it, the fit was great! Paired with my black Doc Martens, I’m seriously swooning over this fit and I can’t wait for the weather to warm up a bit more so I can wear it! Not only is this outfit on point aesthetically, but it’s also very comfortable. You can’t go wrong with a soft skirt and an oversize tee, am I right?? I also made sure to bring a cropped denim jacket. Because again, you never know when it’s going to get windy by the ocean or the sun decides to take a break. I’ve been wearing this denim jacket super often, and it’s from Melrose in the O.C. (classic). It’s usually very hard for me to find a denim or leather jacket that fits perfectly at the shoulders, so I’m stoked that this one is extremely comfortable!
As for accessories, I went for an all gold look to match the leopard print on the shirt. I’m usually a silver type of gal, but the gold has been a fun change! The bracelet and dainty star necklace are both from Madewell. And the chunky heart necklace which says “The Best is Yet to Come” is from Anthropologie. Of course, I’m also wearing my Tiffany’s heart ring, which I’ve had since I was 13. I wear this on a daily basis and it’s always with me.
You guys might have noticed that a Nordstrom’s bag is in a lot of these photos. Last week, I teamed up with some of my SoCal blogger friends to do a $200 Nordstrom giveaway! It ends today, so be sure to check out the @goldengirlscrew_socal Instagram page for rules of entry. It’s super easy and I’d love to give something back to you guys! Good luck!
I hope you all enjoyed this skater inspired OOTD! Let me know down in the comments what your favorite piece is and what you’re most excited about for spring! You all have a “Heart of Gold” so I always appreciate your thoughts and feedback! Also, shoutout to Jamie Lyn Kane for inspiring today’s featured photo. Check out her blog for so much creative inspo!
