Sage Olivia Lightroom Presets!

Hey everyone! Wow, I should probably write a short life update on here, because SO MUCH has happened within the past couple weeks, which is why I’ve been a bit inactive on the blog. Long story short, I got a job as a marketing manager for one of my favorite shops in south Orange County! I’ve been shopping there since I was a teenager and I’m now running their social media. It’s been such a full circle moment for me! However, this post is actually about something else completely new.

I’ve Released Lightroom Presets!!!

Once in a while I will get comments from you guys asking about my photography or how I edit my photos. Through Lightroom, I’ve been using my own personal filter with all of my photos. For months now, I’ve been wanting to release it (and a few more) so you guys can edit your photos too! All of the presets are named after beaches I love in Southern California, so they’ve all got a place close to my heart. There are four options: Riviera, Trafalgar, Victoria, and Doheny. You can also purchase a preset pack that contains all four! I have to say my favorite though, is the preset I use now called “Riviera.” It’s my most popular filter because it enhances the colors already present in your photos. No overly saturated colors, bright, and perfect for a summer Instagram theme! You can find all my presets here! Check out some of my before and after photos below:

As mentioned above, the preset “Riviera” is perfect because it brightens up your photos and adjusts the colors in a slight way that makes them more appealing to the eye. The blues are on the lighter side and the reds more on the orange spectrum. The contrast between blue and orange is gorgeous to me and is one specific reason I love this filter! The whites are also turned up, which makes it perfect for an all white aesthetic.

How to Set Up Your Preset

If you chose to purchase a Sage Olivia preset, set up is super easy! It’s best to use your computer when setting them up.

  • Simply download the free version of Lightroom from the App Store onto your computer.
  • Next, download the preset and save it to your desktop (or wherever it is easiest to access).
  • In Lightroom, chose File > Import Profiles and Presets
  • Chose the “Riviera” file from your desktop and it will be added into your presets panel.
  • If you have an Adobe Creative Suite account, presets will automatically sync from your computer to the Lightroom Mobile app on your phone.
  • Once you have a photo uploaded into Lightroom, choose the Riviera preset from the presets panel and it will be automatically applied! Adjust it as necessary.

“Riviera” Tips & Tricks

When you use any preset, it will ALWAYS look slightly different because most likely the lighting of every photo is unique. However, it can always be adjusted to your preferences. Presets are used as a jumping off point to edit your photos and they can be customized specifically to you. One aspect about presets that can be difficult is skin tone. Some bloggers prefer their skin tone to look very orange, which I personally do not prefer. You can change this by sliding the orange (or red) color in your preset settings. Other aspects like exposure, contrast, whites, blacks, and saturation are a few things that can be adjusted in Lightroom. The possibilities are quite literally endless!

Another great tip: if your photo looks too bright or blown out, simply bring down the exposure or the “whites” bar in your setting. Making these small changes will make your photo look more natural but still gorgeous!

Changing Colors of Clothes in Lightroom

What’s most fun about Lightroom is you can adjust any color dramatically. In the photo below, I wanted my red dress to be yellow to be more summer inspired. I simply adjusted the red color settings in Lightroom, and BAM! Red dress is now yellow. I started off this edit with “Riviera” but as you can see, you can truly adjust it to anything  you want!

Blogger tip: I personally like to change the color of some clothes I wear because it allows me more photos to use for Instagram. The more photos you can archive to plan out ahead of time, the better. Especially with a full time social media job now, this is a very helpful and simple tool to use.
