Comfy & Cozy Athleisure OOTD!

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday!! Wow, it’s been quite some time since I photographed for a new OOTD. This one was quite spontaneous but something I’ve been throwing on very often. Recently the comfy/casual look has been very popular, specifically in streetwear. I’m personally a huge fan of this since I love a good baggy sweatshirt and a pair of tennis shoes. Outfits that can transform from gym sessions to everyday style is something you simply can’t miss out on! So without further ado, here is my comfy athleisure outfit for a day at the gym and being a straight up Girlboss!

IMG_3610.JPG

So it’s actually been super rainy out here in California lately…like flooding has occurred. Which is honestly kind of scary seeing this much rain but on the up side, gives me TONS of opportunities to bring out all the hoodies and beanies that I want! It’s a whole new world out here, people!! As a lot of you know, I’m absolutely in love with any black clothing item. For some reason in recent years especially I’ve loved an all black look. I think that’s one reason why I’m obsessing over this simple black cropped hoodie from H&M. I don’t own any other cropped hoodies but I’m honestly super into it. As far as the cut goes, it has the classic hood with draw strings in the front.

Image.jpg

I’ve actually worn this hoodie multiple times now to the gym. It’s been perfect for workouts considering I don’t like wearing tops that are constricting. I prefer going with something more loose on the top that I can just throw on in the mornings (which is when I usually work out). I’ll push up the sleeves if I get too warm, but since it’s been so cold and rainy, I love this piece even more. With this sweatshirt, I’ll wear my usual Lulu Lemon high waisted workout pants or another high waisted variation from Nordstrom (usually the brand called Zella).

Image-2.jpg

On this particular day though, I paired this comfy sweatshirt with some high waisted jeans. The fit is a bit looser than normal denim, so I consider these my mom jeans since they’re very high waisted. These jeans have a very unique hemline at the ankle; the front portion is much shorter than the back, giving a cool geometric look or 90% angle (you can see this in the left photo). I get all my denim from a little store in my town that I’ve been going to for years. I’ve mentioned this store countless times on the blog, but I got these jeans at Melrose in the O.C. I’m not sure if you can get these jeans on their site, but I’d recommend taking some time to look around! Literally all of the pieces they offer are to die for!

IMG_3567.jpeg

Alright, on to accessories and the focal point of this look: my red checkered Vans!!! Guys, I’m so in love with this red kicks, I seriously can’t get over it. I’m not normally one to buy red but I got these for Christmas and I’ve been trying to find any excuse to wear them. I think they look best with a simple outfit like this so they have the opportunity to stand out. I’ve had the original black and white checkered Vans for quite some time now and have completely worn them down. It was definitely time for a new pair and these are just SO unique! Plus, they match our blooming bougainvillea plant, which has just been looking so lovely.

As for my necklace, I completely spaced and forgot to get a decent photo of it. However, it’s from Madewell and it’s a simple gold chain with small stars wrapping all around it. I’ve been super into the whole galaxy (moon, stars, constellations) accessory trend recently, so I’ve been wearing it everyday! It’s another piece that really adds a pop of shine to any outfit, especially if it’s a simple look like this.

IMG_3526-1.jpeg

Let me know what you think of this OOTD down in the comments! How are you staying comfy and cozy (but still killing it) during this chilly and rainy season? I’d love to know! P.S. enjoy this goofy photo of me because I rarely post anything silly on this blog. Maybe we’ll change that up, LOL! Have a great rest of your week and talk to you all very soon! xx

New Years Resolutions & Where I’ve Been!

Hello everyone! Well, I thought it was finally time to make another blog post. Ever since my struggle with Blogmas, I’ll be honest it’s been a bit hard for me to sit down and write again. But that’s what I want to talk to you guys about today…what exactly has been going on. So without beating around the bush, I’ll jump straight into it.

Health Takes a Dip

The week before my Christmas break from work, I ended up getting a fairly bad cold. I stayed home from work one day to recuperate and pushed myself to go back probably a bit too soon. However, it was just a cold and things needed to get done. Christmas break was finally here and my health was improving everyday until the sickness was completely gone! My break was spent eating lots of great food and spending time with my family. I had a few days of work to complete but most of it was very relaxing and exactly what I needed. Unfortunately though, with about a week dealing with that cold and the holiday, my time at the gym was starting to diminish and I wasn’t watching what I was eating in the slightest. To summarize: I was falling into old habits and my health was very up and down.

Hit with the Flu…Again

I had some exciting plans for New Years Eve that I was looking forward to. The past couple years I had chosen to stay in for this particular holiday, so I was excited to get myself out again. However, you might be able to guess what happened next…I got hit with one of the worst flus I’ve ever experienced. Yep, worse than the cold I had before. I had the shakes, a high fever for literally days, and so many other symptoms. I ended up staying in bed on New Years Eve, New Years day, and about four days after that. It was a bad one, guys. I ended up going to see a doctor and getting some antibiotics which helped kick this illness out of me. We were concerned it had the potential to turn into pneumonia, which is why I was being so careful. I usually go a very holistic route when I’m sick and avoid anything stronger than Advil. However this time, antibiotics were necessary. While I’m feeling SO much better now, it took a good 9 days to feel functional again.

Backtrack to January 1st, I was given some news that was definitely surprising to me but ultimately is leading me in a much more positive direction. Some could see it as a huge setback, but I’ve chosen to see it as a great opportunity that I’m grateful for. I’m very excited for the future, and that’s all I’ll say about it.

Since I was so knocked down by this second flu, my time at the gym and taking care of my health was basically nonexistent. I still couldn’t tell you the last time I’ve been at the gym. Before I got sick, my health had become such a priority to me and my time at the gym had become so relaxing and something I needed. So to not be able to do that was tough. Now that my health is finally on the upswing, I’ve been going on plenty of beach runs/walks with my sister. Taking in the sun and saltwater has been so healing for me and has been my escape.

Declining Motivation

Now I’d like to address how all of this has affected this blog and my motivation in general. I have to be honest with you guys and say that I’ve never felt this unmotivated to do the things I love. This blog has always been so important to me even though I struggle with consistency. Never before though, have I had 0% motivation to write, take photos, or anything along the lines of being creative. Even on Instagram, I’ve barely posted and not even cared. I’m not really sure how to deal with this since I’ve always been an overachieving person who wants to grow in what I love. Writing this post is definitely a step in the right direction, although I still feel like something’s missing. I had such high hopes for 2019 and still do, but my motivation has never been so low. I think the hardest part about it is that I’m only hurting myself. I’m not growing or doing anything beneficial for myself in this state and it bothers me a ton. If any of you have some tips on how you stay motivated or bounce back from something destructive like illness, let me know in the comments below!

2019 Resolutions

This part of the post is solely for myself, but feel free to keep reading! I thought making a short list of things I want to accomplish in 2019 will help my motivation a bit, so here is that list.

  • Bounce back from anything negative with the strength to be and do better
  • Be more consistent with anything and everything in my life
  • Meet new people that help me grow creatively, intellectually, and spiritually (expand my circle of friends in general)
  • Find something that will start a career that I’ll be excited about for years to come
  • Stand up for myself and what I know is right. To not be afraid anymore of speaking my mind, even to those above me
  • Build more confidence
  • Look into furthering my education
  • Find ways to be creative in whatever moment I’m in
  • Reach my goal weight/make good health a lifestyle instead of a task
  • Change my mindset into something more productive
  • Rebrand the blog/schedule out posts more often
  • Make more videos/build editing skills with Final Cut Pro
  • Be more intentional with everyone I meet
  • ATTEMPT to eat less sweets/chocolate (this might be the hardest resolution)

I hope you guys found something on this list that you’d like to do yourself or found inspiration in. I’m sorry for my absence but I honestly wasn’t planning it…I think I needed it though. I’m trying to find my motivation again as quick as possible, but I don’t want this blog to feel like a job. I know the more it feels like a hobby and something I’m not forcing, I’ll want to create more content. I appreciate your patience and thank you guys for reading!

A Gift Guide for the Fashion Lover in Your Life! (Blogmas Day 6)

Hey guys! Getting sick of Blogmas yet?? Not me! I’ve really been enjoying writing these posts for you guys and staying so consistent. That’s one of the up sides of this challenge, it sure does keep you accountable. I know personally I’m such a perfectionist and hate the thought of failure, so I’m sure happy with how Blogmas is going this year! As some of you may know, I started my blog because of my love of fashion and it’s grown to other avenues of creativity like beauty and lifestyle. So this post is dedicated to all my fashion lovers out there and to any in your life! Let’s jump into it.

Snakeskin Boots

We’ve been seeing this trend absolutely everywhere lately. Whether that’s on a skirt, shirts, hats, and of course…boots! Not gonna lie, I totally hopped on this trend pretty quickly. I haven’t been much of an animal print gal in the past but the way the texture is being styled is so intriguing to me! There’s something so edgy yet sophisticated about it. I honestly feel like a bit of a power woman with these shoes on, LOL. These boots I bought from Steve Madden. I was a little worried about what I’d pair them with but with my mostly black wardrobe, it hasn’t been a problem! My favorite look is the snakeskin boots with black or dark gray distressed denim, a white crop top, my long black cardigan that reaches the floor, and my gray hat. I actually posted this on Instagram a little white ago if you’d like to check it out there or below!

Leopard Print Skirts & Accessories

Continuing with the animal print trend, I couldn’t forget about leopard print. This was one texture I wasn’t sure I could get into. However, I’ve totally been sporting leopard print everything! From skirts to smaller accessories like belts and shoes, I’ve been obsessed without even realizing it. I first got a pair of slip on shoes with a leopard print that I’ve been wearing to work every week. They’re so easy to put on if you’re in a hurry and they really make your outfit unique. I then bought a thin belt with leopard print that I’ve realized can literally pair with anything you wear. Like the shoes, it’s the perfect unexpected accent piece. I’ve specifically been loving pairing leopard print with a bright color. I have a yellow turtleneck sweater (seen quite often on my Instagram) and it’s gone perfectly with the leopard print. You wouldn’t expect it to look amazing, but I’m into it.

Last and not least, I ended up buying a leopard print mini skirt. It’s been perfect for a night out, paired with a black long sleeve bodysuit underneath and some black ankle boots. Not only is it super comfortable, but you look extremely fashionable wherever you go. This skirt was actually very affordable at a small shop in my city, but I know with the current trends you could find something like this anywhere!

Unordinary Purses

This is something very new I’ve just discovered but Zara has a to die for purse selection! Who knew! They are not extremely pricey, but also not your usual Forever 21 purse price. Personally, I think you’re getting really great quality for the pricing. I’ve recently been loving this red purse from Zara. I normally don’t buy red things (or anything warm toned in general) because I don’t think it goes well with my skin tone. However, this purse gives a little spicy look to any outfit. Sometimes you just need a little spice in your life, ya know? Cool thing about this purse is the strap is adjustable. There are little clips along each strap so you can make it as short or long as you like. I prefer my purses a little longer so they can go cross body, but again it’s up to you! This is also the perfect going out purse. It’s not too big, yet will hold your phone, keys, cash, cards, or whatever else you may need! Definitely check out Zara next time you’re in need for an affordable yet high quality bag!

Black Friday Haul 2018!

Hello loves! For all my American readers, I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving filled with lots of good food and family! I of course always look forward to sweet potatoes topped with roasted marshmallows, green bean casserole and of course some good ol’ turkey. Sometimes though, the real fun comes on Black Friday, when prices are low and the crowds are way too condensed. I’ll be honest I’m not one of those that gets up at 4 or 5am to jump in line at my favorite store. I actually prefer to go in after the fact or shop online. I stopped by a couple places today and found a few great things for the coming winter season (not that we actually get a cold winter here in California but I like to pretend, LOL). So for today’s post, I want to do a haul of things I got while Black Friday shopping and hopefully it’ll inspire you to embrace this new season wherever you are!

Autumnal Tones & Frayed Sleeves

Facetune-1.jpg

Facetune.jpg

Starting off strong with one of my favorite pieces from Black Friday! During fall, I always am drawn to burgundy or gray tones. I love the mix of colors in this sweater, especially because I know I’ll wear them years from now. This sweater is also very cropped, which is fitting for the SoCal weather. You can enjoy a knit sweater but not worry about getting too overheated when the sun ultimately pops out. The neckline and sleeves are also very frayed, giving it a distressed and grungey look. This would be the perfect piece to wear on Christmas day or simply to snuggle up with your special person to watch a movie. I paired it with my knit beanie from Topshop that I purchased a few years back. This sweater had a 20% discount for Black Friday, which I think is a steal considering the brand is usually a bit pricey.

Facetune-2.jpg

Normally when winter hits, I will head up to the mountains for a day and spend some time in the snow. I’d love to wear this outfit with big jacket thrown over it and maybe even a scarf depending on how chilly it is. I honestly don’t know how to dress for the snow so this is the closest I can get, LOL. But hey, sometimes being cold is the price to pay for fashion, right??

I Put a Spell on You

Image.jpgThis has to be another one of my favorite pieces from the haul. This long black cardigan really did put a spell on me. There’s something so beautiful and feminine about a fitted cardigan that reached all the way to the floor. Paired with my favorite gray hat, I feel super witchy in this outfit. I guess you could say I’m bringing back some Halloween vibes into Christmas! Especially when paired with boots, this cardigan really makes a statement. On the topic of boots, how amazing is this gray snakeskin pair from Steve Madden?! While I didn’t purchase these on Black Friday, I thought I’d give them a little shoutout because I wear them every chance I get.

Of course, I paired this cardigan with some black distressed denim because if you know me, I’ll always go for an all black look. For whatever reason, I feel very confident in all black and it’s slimming to every figure.

IMG_2144.jpeg

IMG_2183.jpeg

Underneath the cardigan I have a top I got 10% off on Black Friday. I love a good button down, and this white one that ties in the front is so versatile. It’s a piece that can be layered during winter but also worn on it’s own during the spring or summer. It’s super comfortable and I love buying simple basics like this.

Cozy by a Stormy Sea

IMG_2190.jpeg

I’ve been seeing these oversized teddy bear material sweaters all over the place lately! Most of them come in a jacket form but I found this one as a pullover. They actually didn’t have this sweater in my size, so I opted for a larger size. But honestly I really love being wrapped up in a cozy material, so I don’t mind at all. It has a very large hood, great for spending time down by the ocean on a windy day. This sweater really reminds me of sitting on the sand next to the pier, watching a stormy sea. There’s nothing more beautiful. This is another great piece if you’re going up to the snow since the material is so warm and can be layered!

More Stripes, Are You Surprised?

IMG_2187.jpeg

While I was shopping, I did a few polls on my Instagram story. I asked you guys if I should buy a certain item or leave it on the rack. I was surprised to see a lot of people thought I should leave this piece at the store. Regardless, I really loved the look of this sweater with the tie in the front and the material is extremely comfortable so I ended up buying it anyway! I love having sweaters like this to lounge around in at home, but I think this could be styled really nicely as well. I love the color and the overall laid back vibe, so I’m really happy with this purchase! It’ll be perfect for a casual work day in the office too! Let me know what you think of this piece in particular down in the comments.

IMG_2185.jpeg

I really hope you guys enjoyed this Black Friday haul. I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a fashion post, and I missed it so much! Like I mentioned in my previous post, life has continued to be a bit hectic but I’ve been focusing a lot on my health and going to the gym almost everyday. I’m slowly starting to transform my body, which has made my little break from blogging totally worth it. I hope one day I can make a transformation/how I got healthy post! Anyways, did you do any Black Friday shopping this year and what are your favorite stores? I’d love to know! Talk to you all soon! xx

What You Don’t Know About Me! (Music, Pugs, Anxiety, and More!)

Hey everyone! First off, thank you for all the awesome comments on my last blog post! Reading your stories about sleep paralysis, sleep hallucinations, etc. has been so intriguing to hear about! Although it’s such a crazy thing to go through, I’m glad no one’s alone! Anyways, I just put up a new video last night and I wanted to share it here on the blog on this lovely Wednesday. I’m talking about tons of things no one knows about me online. Some small things, and some bigger ideas that are very important to me and I want to be open about. P.S. I love the turtleneck sweater I’m wearing in the video but it was literally 85 degrees outside! But do it for YouTube, right?? LOL

This is my fifth official video on my YouTube channel so I really hope you guys enjoy it! Feel free to drop a like (if you liked) and subscribe if you’ve never seen my videos before! I’ve genuinely been loving the process of filming, editing, and posting (just like on this blog) even though YouTube is SUCH a different platform. But I’d love as much feedback as possible, so comment away!! Anyways, I’ll let you get to the video. I love you guys very much and I’ll talk to you very soon in another blog post! xx

An Autumn Weekend OOTD!

Hey everyone! Guess what?? IT FINALLY RAINED IN SOCAL! I was driving to work the other day (it usually takes me about an hour to get there) and it started pouring rain. I kid you not, it was POURING. I know to most people this is a fairly normal occurrence but to me it was straight up magic. I absolutely love rainy days but they rarely happen here. It was one of the only times I was glad I have a long commute because I could just enjoy the sound of the rain. This weekend has also been slightly chilly. There’s been no rain but I can feel the air is getting cooler. I thought I would bring out another fall OOTD, one that is still quite casual and something I would wear on a weekend during autumn. Continue reading for photos and outfit details!

IMG_0891.PNG

IMG_0900.jpeg

As the weather is definitely getting chillier, the sun still pops out once in a while and will literally bake your face if you stand outside for too long. To compensate for the occasional heat, I prefer to mix my summer pieces with fall favorites. I’m a sucker for a giant cozy sweater in the fall (as most people are, LOL) but putting a little California spin on it is my fave. I bought this jean skirt last fall actually and it’s been one of my staples ever since then. It goes with absolutely everything and I love channeling my inner 90’s kid (shoutout to all my 1996 babies). Image.jpgSo with my favorite jean skirt I threw on an oversize auburn sweater. I’m always super into this color when fall begins and it goes well with most outfits (you’d be surprised). My coloring doesn’t do well with anything full on red, so I opt for burgundy, wine, or auburn tones like this sweater. This specific style is tight at the arms and is oversized everywhere else. In order to give my body a little more shape, I tucked in the front of the sweater since the skirt tends to make me look a little square in shape. I’ve been doing this with most of my outfits lately. It’s funny because as a kid I wore uniforms at school everyday and they were very strict about tucking in your shirt. I hated the rule and felt like such a rebel having my shirt untucked. Oh how times have changed!

Since purchasing this skirt, it’s also gotten a little big on me so I usually have to wear a belt. I love this black one because of course it goes with any outfit and this specific design has been super in style recently. I love the silver detailing and how it looks with a shirt or sweater tucked in. I’m learning more and more that with fashion it’s all in the little details, even if that means tucking in your shirt to show a cute belt. So simple but transforms a look!

Facetune-3.jpg

IMG_0898.jpeg

Facetune-4.jpg

As for other accessories, I wore a dainty gold necklace that says “Wish” (even though you can’t see it in the photos) and a long rock necklace. I’ve really been trying to accessorize more, even if it’s with one long necklace. I’m finding it makes an outfit more special, even though I’m one to go for simpler pieces. The earth tones in the rock (or is it a crystal?) pair so well with the auburn sweater and I love it for this season! This necklace is also painted with gold on one side! Next, since this is a casual weekend look, I threw on my classic black vans. As you all know, I love a girly look with something more edgy or even masculine. I like to achieve this vibe with my shoes most times, and you can bet you’ll always be comfortable in Vans!

That’s about it for this OOTD. We oftentimes forget that being comfortable can also be made very cute. Adding small details or changing the way you wear certain pieces can really help transform any look. So get creative with fashion and have fun with it! It’s such an amazing way to express yourself and if you love something, WEAR IT! Let me know what you guys think of this look down in the comments! xx

A Casual Day with Me! (OOTD)

Hello everyone, happy first day of October! I posted a photo on Instagram the other day of a very casual OOTD, what my childhood was like growing up, and how that has affected my fashion sense now as a 22 year old. It was a very brief post, but I wanted to dive into that a little more in a blog post! Being surrounded by a beachy environment as a kid and growing up with lots of surfers and skaters, my fashion sense was definitely influenced. My style has always been a good mix between feminine and edgy but when I was young, I was a MAJOR tomboy. Keep reading for full outfit details!

casualootd.JPG

I love my fancy outfits, done up hair and detailed makeup as much as the next fashion lover, but you won’t find me wearing that on the regular. My usual look is a t-shirt usually tucked into some ripped jeans and some tennis shoes. I really love accessorizing with simple looks like these, so I’ll throw on a long necklace or even a dainty one if I’m feeling extra minimalistic. Sometimes it’s the smallest details that can throw an outfit together!

casualootd3.JPG

The main focus of this OOTD is my new Vans. I’ve had countless pairs of Vans throughout the years. From black high tops to checkered slip ons, to their classic black pair like these. I partly wore a lot of vans because they matched with my school uniform when I was younger. Going to private Christian schools my entire childhood, the dress code was always very strict but Vans were always a good way to style your uniform and try to be a little different in a sea of identical clothing. I always find it funny that I’m so into fashion considering I didn’t have many options except plaid skirts and collared shirts for the majority of my life.

IMG_0786_Facetune_29-09-2018-15-48-53.jpeg

I purchased this simple and flowy white tee from Nordstrom a couple months ago and I’ve been living with it. Simple shirts like these are great for layering under spaghetti strap tops or even dresses. I love that that specific trend has come full circle and is popular again! These ripped jeans are seriously some of the comfiest I’ve ever owned and I love the rugged bottoms and where they fall on my legs. I prefer jeans with holes any day over regular denim. I got the jeans and the long rock necklace at a little shop called Melrose in the O.C. (which is where I buy the majority of my clothes nowadays, LOL). Of course, I purchased my classic black Vans at a Vans shoe store. I’ve been wearing these nonstop with any outfit I can even though they’ve taken a couple days to break in. I’ve also been obsessing over my checkered phone case, which I got from Wildflower online. It’s been extremely protective (I’m prone to always dropping my phone) while also very in style which is at times hard to find in a phone case! I’d definitely recommend the brand!

I hope you guys enjoyed another OOTD! I know I personally enjoy seeing a more casual side of some of my favorite YouTubers or bloggers. Let me know what you think of this simple look or if you have a favorite basic piece! Sometimes buying the most minimal pieces can be a great asset to your wardrobe, so don’t forget to pick up some tees or simple tank tops the next time you’re out shopping! See you guys in the next one!
