New Londontown Fall Line + Giveaway!

Hello everyone! I am so excited for today’s post (what’s new?) A little while back, I told you guys about my collaboration with Londontown nail polish. I was amazed by the high quality of this polish and so happy to be working with such an awesome brand. For today’s post, I’m partnering with them again to bring you their fall line! Yes, I know, we don’t want summer to end but honestly with these new shades I’m ready to kick off the Autumn season with a bang and a Giveaway! (Products and rules to enter below)

I don’t believe I mentioned this in my last Londontown post, but each of these bottles sell for about $16. For the average person this may be a bit pricey, but if you’re serious about your beauty products, you definitely get what you pay for. The quality is seriously amazing and has lasted WAY longer than your normal Target nail color. Since I’ve been in a student’s position, I’m so happy to be announcing a giveaway with Londontown! Not only that, but you guys have been so supportive of me throughout this past year of taking blogging more seriously so I’m stoked to be able to give back!

The Fall Shades

Londontwon was sweet enough to send me four new colors in their autumn line (two of them are included in the giveaway). “Kissed by Rose Gold” is one of the most gorgeous shimmer shades I have ever laid eyes on. It’s the perfect mix of silver and rose gold (which would be great for November and Thanksgiving in my opinion). “Jane Austen” is a lovely pastel pink/purple shade. It is almost white with a little hint of lavender. Next, “Iconic” is a bold blue tone. If you’ve been loving the bright nail shades this season, this is the blue shade for you! Last but not least, “Vendetta” is a deep red and really sets the whole tone for the entire fall collection. While I normally reach for the cooler tones on my nails, I’m excited to try this red shade out this season!

What You’ll Receive from Londontown!

There will be one lucky winner that will receive quite a few items from Londontown to take their autumnal look to the next level! In your package you will be getting:

Briolette and Opal you can learn more about in my last Londontown post if you’d like to know more about those shades and what I thought of them. This is all a $123 value that you can win by taking a few simple steps!

How To Enter!

There are a few simple steps to this Giveaway. First, head on over to Instagram and give both @sageoliviablog and @londontownusa a follow. Second, tag a friend you think should also enter the giveaway or you’d share these goodies with! Lastly, like any photo on my feed! This should only take you a few seconds and will make you eligible to win all of these quality items from Londontown. I know I say this in all my collaborative posts but I wouldn’t endorse something I don’t truly love and I think you guys would really enjoy these products so please enter this awesome giveaway if you’d like! Best of luck to you all and I will be in contact with the winner once the giveaway ends! Talk to you very soon! xx

The Season of Pumpkins, Candles, and Cozy Nights!

Hello everyone! Yes, I know it’s been a couple weeks since I’ve posted, which I’m super bummed about. To be perfectly honest it gets quite difficult to stay consistent when school starts up. My weeks are hectic and my free time is filled with finishing homework or tidying up the apartment. However, this blog has not escaped my mind and I really miss connecting with you guys. Especially with the fall season upon us! The first day of fall was on September 22nd, just a few days ago. Even though summer is absolutely my favorite season, I still get a little excited knowing the temperature will drop (very slightly) in San Diego and a few rainy days are to come. Although Southern California is known for constant sunshine and beach days, downpours are some of my favorite moments and actually make me feel super happy. It’s a change of scenery, which I think is important for everyone.

Anyways, I just wanted to jump on here to say hello and see how you all are doing. Are you excited for autumn and do you have any fun activities planned for October? Do the seasons change dramatically where you live? I know I always look forward to pumpkin patches, PSL’s (because of course), hot cocoa, and movie nights with a warm cup of tea in my hands. Not only that, but fall fashion is making a comeback! I cannot wait to slip on a pair of my favorite boots with black jeans and a big ol’ comfy sweater! Honestly oversized sweaters are some of my favorite things to wear and I love being engulfed in an excess of fabric. Any excuse I have to wear them, I take it, even though it’s rare here.

I have a lot of new post ideas bouncing around in my brain, specifically tied to the changing of the seasons. I will get to them as soon as I possibly can, since a lot of them deal with fashion and beauty! If you guys ends up creating any fall/Halloween posts, send a link my way! I’d love to look through your posts, so feel free to comment them down below or tag me on Instagram @sageoliviablog. Again, I apologize for the lack of posts, I’ve had a lot going on with school and some things in my personal life too, so thank you all for being patient. Talk to you soon! xx

Another College Move In & Freshman Year Advice!

Holy cow I can’t believe I’m writing this. My little sister has moved into college! I wanted to make a little post about this because I am just so proud of her. She is going to an amazing college and guess what? It’s in San Diego!! I’m so excited to keep exploring the city with her since she’s so close to my apartment and school. It’ll be nice to have family so close while I go through my senior year of college.

It’s always so funny between her and I since we’re three years apart. Just like in high school, I was the senior while she was an incoming freshman. We’re repeating the same thing in college just on a more adult level. I’ve changed incredibly in these last four years and it’s insane to think she’s just starting her journey. Moving her into her dorm was hectic, like it usually is each year as you move into a new building. It was one of the hottest days of the year, but her room turned out adorable and I’m excited to see what she thinks of dorm life. She has many advantages that I didn’t have, for example having her own bathroom in her room (major plus!) Her room has an amazing view of part of San Diego, so she is very blessed.

Moving her into her dorm made all the memories flood back from moving into my own dorm freshman year. It is extremely overwhelming being bombarded with new faces, rushing around, and trying to be friendly and sociable with your new roomies. It’s a lot but she handled it with more grace than I usually do. This time is filled with so many opportunities, with four years ahead that will be loaded with new friends, hours of homework and studying, uncontrollable laughter, and quite a few tears. It was such a trip to look back on the day I moved into my little dorm room thinking the sophomores were incredibly old and very experienced (lol). But now I’m a senior, about to start working on my final graphic design portfolio, thinking about grad school, and wondering where the heck my life is headed after I graduate.

So with that being said, I think I’m definitely in the position to hand out some advice. Hopefully this helps you in some way if you’re headed into college, and I especially hope my sister takes these things to heart.

Be Open and Excited to Meet (Plenty) of New People

There is absolutely no doubt that your first year you will meet a crazy amount of new people. Being the new kid is kind of scary, but everyone is in the exact same boat. Everyone is looking for someone to talk to and everyone wants to make a life at your new school. Be genuinely interested in learning about someone new and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more genuine questions you ask, the more the conversation will become easier and better! People want to know about you too! Tell them about yourself, sell yourself! Try not to be closed off and work on building a new network of friends.

Friends Will Come and Go

So you’ve made a nice group of friends freshman year. Go you! That’s amazing. Be aware that every year in college is different and people change rapidly. Some in great ways and others in not so great ways. Know that each year you may hangout with different people, add more peeps to your list of friends, or lose those that become toxic. This time is made special for YOU and there’s no time for people that bring you down. I was lucky enough to have a freshman hall where mostly every person keeps in touch and we all still love to get together every now and again. The same may happen for you, and don’t count it out! Simply be open to new people every year and it will get easier and easier.

Say Yes to Everything!

These four years are your chance to try things you’ve never done before! If something makes you hesitant, it’s probably going to be a great learning experience. Within boundaries of course, I’m not talking about drugs or excessive drinking. That’s a no no. If you’re thinking, “Should I go to that event tonight? I can’t make up my mind.” Just go! You may meet someone or do something that could give you new realizations or change your path! You never know. I’ve tried to do this in my life recently, and it’s honestly made me really happy. From saying yes to Europe and yes to smaller things in my life, I’ve really grown from deciding to simply say YES more often. Try doing this in college, spread your wings! #cheeseball

Find Your Balance

One of the hardest things to do in college is learning to balance your new life. As a freshman you’re going to have to learn how to balance school, your social life, and your personal life all in one place. School and homework comes with its own stresses and trying to make new friends can make you feel a little displaced and unsure. But your personal life is of top importance as well. Take care of YOU. Go to sleep extra early some nights if your body needs it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with saying, “Hey guys, I need a little extra rest tonight so I’m gonna hit the hay now. I’m feeling a little drained.” Those who truly care will completely understand. I’ve been blessed with roommates who really get that and appreciate if I ever need sleep, and vice versa. If you’re feeling sick one day, REST! Don’t push yourself to the max; if you’re feeling horrible one day then skip your classes and take care of yourself. Missing one day is better than going out extremely sick and then having to miss multiple days.

It’s Okay to Feel Unsure or Even Scared

This is something every person experiences during their first week, month, or even year of college! Leaving your family for the first time is a big step. It’s 100% understandable to feel a little scared or filled with anxiety. I know there were points when I struggled. It’s a completely normal response, and know you’re definitely not the only one. It’s okay to not be okay some days. You’ll have your ups and your downs, but you simply have to accept that. It’s a part of the experience, but every down comes with an up. These are moments to check in with your family or friends back home. Sometimes just hearing their voice and talking about how you’re feeling can make you recharged and more positive. Don’t hold anything in, especially if you’re not feeling great emotionally. You’re becoming an adult who can care for themselves, but everyone needs a little advice or support sometimes.

So those are a few tips for you guys, I hope they are helpful or comforting to even one person. It comes from my own experience and specific things I wish I could’ve heard as a freshman.

To My Little Sister (Whose Not So Little Anymore)

I am so proud of you. Things are hazy right now and everything is new. But try to take it all in and enjoy your new life! It’s quite an exciting one. San Diego is a paradise I hope you take advantage of and want to come back to one day. I also hope my experiences have made you feel more sure about the new adventure you’re about to embark upon. Be safe and I’m only a few minutes away if you ever need me. Congratulations, love you Skye!

Pasta Recipe + Meal Prepping!

Hey everyone! I have another new recipe for you! It was great to see the feedback from my last summer salad recipe post. You guys really love that healthy salad as much as I do! This recipe may not be as healthy as that kale and grape salad, but it is just as delicious and can be modified to be more health friendly. It is one of my favorite dishes that my mom always makes when I come home, so I thought I’d try making it in my apartment! I also made extra of everything so I would have it for the first week of school. I have a small meal plan this year, so I’m planning on bringing my lunches mostly everyday. It was super easy to make and great to take on the go! Keep reading to learn what ingredients you need, how to make it, and how I organized the extra food for the week!

VSCO Cam-6-1.jpg

What You’ll Need

  • Farfalle pasta
  • Peas
  • Corn
  • Grated parmesan cheese
  • Ranch dressing
  • Salt (optional)

Image-3.jpgImage-2.jpgImage-4.jpgThe (Extremely Easy) Recipe

  1. To start off, simply cook the pasta! (I put salt in the water so it boils faster and that’s good to do when cooking pasta).
  2. Cook the corn and peas (cooked separately and not in the same pot).
  3. Toss together the pasta, corn, and peas.
  4. Once those three ingredients are in a bowl, add in however much ranch you prefer.
  5. Add on some parmesan cheese, again to your own liking.
  6. Mix together and you’re done!!

Time to Meal Prep!

Here’s the part I’ve been excited for. Since it’s a new year, I bought nothing but healthy things at Trader Joe’s. I want to start off on the right foot with meal prepping and knowing exactly what’s going into my food. I brought a ton of tupperware for the apartment, so I split all the extra food into separate containers that are easy to take on the go. All I’ll have to do is add on the ranch and a little parmesan before I leave and I’ll have a fresh lunch! I’m planning on meal prepping on Saturdays or Sundays so I’ll have meals and snacks for the entire week. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up, and I really hope I can to stay healthy!

VSCO Cam-5-2.jpgImage-1.jpg

I know to some this recipe may seem a little different, but I kid you not, it is DELICIOUS! It’s one of my favorite things ever and such a nice treat. Try it out let me know what you think. If you end up trying it, post it on instagram and tag me @sageoliviablog! I’d love to see what you guys think! Hope you are all having a lovely week and if you’re back to school, hope you’re having a nice fresh start! xx

Beach Grunge OOTD!

Hello loves! Hope you all are doing well this fine day. Time for another OOTD, yay! I missed putting together outfits for your guys so much. I think my last OOTD was posted before I left for London. Wow, that was so long ago but nonetheless I think you all will enjoy this one! This outfit is great for the upcoming school year since it’s very casual but also has “fancier” elements. You could always make small changes and variations to this style so it can be worn on a night out as well. So without further ado, let’s jump into this 90’s inspired beach grunge OOTD!

As you guys may or may not know, I absolutely love an all black outfit. Black clothing in general seems to work very well for me and I love wearing it, especially in the fall! I bought these distressed black jeans months ago and I can’t stop wearing them. Even though it’s the summertime, I take the chance to wear them whenever I can. They match with absolutely any time and look fabulous with any shoe. I’d love to get a pair of these in white as well since they fit so great. I bought these jeans at Melrose in the O.C. and they are from the brand Just Black.

I threw on a simple black t-shirt to go with the black pants. In order to make the denim stand out, an all black look seemed the best way to go. I got this t-shirt a while back at Nordstrom and I love the scoop neck style of it! This denim jacket has been another staple of mine for the summer. It served me well in Europe on the chillier days while still being light and airy with the sporadic distressed rips. The giant pockets at the front and with the sleeves unrolled, it gives a very 90’s look, which I’m always a fan of. Rolling up the sleeves is perfect as well if I want an even edgier look. I got this slightly oversized denim jacket at a store called Owl Fish, which is a very affordable shop with a great selection!

To continue with the 90’s grunge, I decided to throw on a plain black velvet choker (I bought it at a random store in the mall, but you can find these types of chokers anywhere). I’ve been loving the choker trend lately and all the different styles they come in. They look just amazing on everybody and a great way to punk up a look. Another great trend that’s been happening lately is the dad hat or baseball hat style. It’s been super hard for me to find just the right one, but luckily the Vans US Open of Surfing had my back! I’ve attended the US Open for the past few years now and I always make sure to stop in the Vans shop. They sell tons of Vans march including shoes, apparel, accessories, and more. This year I found a gorgeous little pink hat and I love the pop of color it gives to this outfit. It radiates a feminine and playful vibe without taking away from the edginess. That’s my perfect outfit combo: cute, beachy, and dangerous!

Lastly, to tie up the look I threw on these nude strappy sandals. They have a very slight heel and I love how they can be kept casual in a look like this but also played up with a dress or a romper. While being super easy to walk in, they definitely need some breaking in to get past that blister phase. You all know what I’m talking about when you’re dealing with new shoes, lol. I bought these at a shoe store called Reflection. This lovely nude color combined with the pink, black, and denim texture is something I’m obsessed with lately. It’s so easy to put together and they compliment each other extremely well. On my hands I have a few dainty rings and a marble ring for a little extra something. Combining a modern look with styles from the 90’s is definitely something I’m into right now, and I hope you guys love it too! Let me know what you think of this OOTD, I love chatting with you guys! xx

Talkative Tuesday: New Chapters

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing well and had a fabulous Thanksgiving filled with laughs, family, and friends. For this week’s Talkative Tuesday, I wanted to go over some thoughts that my roommate and I were discussing a couple of days ago. Which is, ending certain chapters of your life to begin new and exciting ones!

Those of us who went off to college have either kept a group of our high school friends or simply lost touch with most of them. Personally, I am so grateful for the friends I met here in college and even for those who are only a part of my past. Most of my college friends I met freshman year in our dorm hall and I’m so lucky a group of us are still so close. They have been there for me through thick and thin and I couldn’t imagine my college experience without them. Many people feel this way about high school friends as well, which is totally awesome! But my message to you this week (especially if you are getting ready to go off to college) is that it’s okay to want to start a new chapter. It’s okay to need to let go of certain people to better or change your future.

I get the feeling that many people expect to keep their high school friends for their entire lives. And some lucky people do! But right now I hope to be that friend that will tell you the truth. Every one of your friends is going to change once you enter college and I mean that in the best of ways! These years will help to shape you into the adult you will become and if that means closing one chapter of your book to open a new one, then that’s 100% okay!

Some people may feel guilty about doing this, but honestly it’s only going to help you make your future what you want it to be. I know in my case I have chosen to end one time in my life to get to a better and more exciting one filled with new friends and new experiences! That’s what college is all about. This time is meant for YOU and what YOU want or need. I’ve been told time and time again that it’s your time to be selfish (not in a negative way, of course) and to dial in on exactly what it is you want to do with your life. If you need to let some friends go, whether you were only acquaintances or if they were a toxic friend, that’s okay. Be open to new people and don’t focus on what is in the past.

I know I’m still learning how to do this, even in my third year of being at my university. Being in a long distance relationship has helped me to not focus so much on the past and try to look forward to the future. As hard as this is, I think I’m learning more every day. If you focus on things you miss or on your past, you’re not giving your future a chance. In fact, you’re not giving yourself a chance. Only thinking about one chapter of your life isn’t healthy, try taking the future one day at a time and finding excitement in it!

I hope this post was clear and helped any one of you. Being the oldest sibling, I never had an older sister or brother to give me short tips like this or to tell me that it’s okay to let go. That it’s okay to be excited for what’s to come! I hope you’re looking forward to your future and pursuing whatever it is that you love! ❤
