The Christmas Tag! (Blogmas Day 5)

What’s up everyone?? It’s Blogmas Day 5! I thought today would be a good opportunity to put up a more simple post. As well as something that’s more interactive and that you all can participate in if you like! I searched Christmas tags online and stumbled upon a ton of results! I didn’t know The Christmas Tag was at thing in this little blogger world but I’m so happy it is! The tag consists of tons of fun questions around the theme of Christmas and I encourage anyone and everyone to participate if you have a blog or Instagram (it could make a great caption to a holiday photo). However, I will also be tagging some of my favorite bloggers to participate in this tag specifically. These questions are from a blog called Makeup Savvy. So let’s kick it off!

1. What is your favorite Christmas Movie?

This is a bit of a difficult one because I love a good Christmas movie marathon at night. However, I’ll have to say “It’s a Wonderful Life” is my absolutely favorite movie. My family and I have a tradition of watching it every year on Christmas Eve night and it’s something I still want to do when I have a family of my own. It’s a black and white film from 1947 that follows a boy from childhood to adulthood. He of course falls in love but also finds himself in some messy business situations. Eventually he wishes he never existed in the first place around Christmastime, so an angel grants his wish. I won’t spoil the end for you, you’ll have to watch it yourselves but I highly recommend this American classic!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

When I was a kid, my parents allowed my sister and I to open one present on Christmas Eve in anticipation for Christmas morning. It was always something fun like a video game that would keep us busy since we were so excited for the coming morning. Although we are both adults now and receive very different gifts, the tradition has stayed alive.

3. Do you have a favorite Christmas memory?

I think I create new favorite memories every year. We host Christmas at our home so we always have lots of family around on Christmas Day. I think I simply love spending time with my family every year that I don’t get to see too often. Yeah yeah, call me corny!

4. Favorite festive food?

I want to do a post on this soon, but Trader Joe’s offers their peppermint Joe Joe cookies in a holiday version. By that I mean dipped in chocolate with peppermint chunks on top. If you’re unfamiliar with Joe Joe cookies, they’re basically Trader Joes’ “healthy” version of an Oreo. But let’s be real, it’s probably just as bad for you, LOL! I’d say these are more of a snack or dessert but you guys know I literally cannot go a day without chocolate…I acknowledge it’s a problem. My mom and I will also do some baking for the holidays. One of my faves is a peanut butter cookie with a Hershey’s kiss in the middle. They’re to die for and make the house smell like a bakery!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

The best Christmas gift I was every given was from my parents last year, actually! They had planned for all of us to go to London and Paris in the summer of 2018. I’ve written all about that trip and what an amazing time I had (minus my bedridden days in Paris). Traveling will always be the best gift. Especially as I’ve gotten older, experiences have becomes so valuable to me. I’ve mentioned this so many times before but London feels like a second home to me and I’ll always want to go back.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

Again, I’ve got to hand it to Trader Joe’s! Recently my coworker has been burning the most amazing candle from there. It’s a pine tree scent that would make you believe there was a large pine tree right in the middle of our office. It’s the most Christmasy scent I’ve ever smelled and I’ve been wanting to stock up for my room at home. Most times candles give me a headache but this one hasn’t done that at all! I’d definitely recommend this if you’re sensitive to scents but still want to get into the holiday mood!

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

I kind of answered this in the first question but I love my family’s tradition of getting all snuggled up on the couch and popping in a Blu-Ray of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” (Did anyone get my YouTube reference? Anyone?) Anyways, it will always be one of my favorite films of all time and with the lights from our tree, it makes the perfect Christmas evening.

8. What tops your tree?

Honestly, some years nothing at all! Sometimes we will tie a big bow around the top but our tree is 7 or 8 feet tall so there’s not much room for a topper.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

As a kid, there is no way I could ever complain about what I received for Christmas. My parents, I mean Santa, always pulled through and got me the most thoughtful gifts. I was never disappointed and this is a feeling I hope to give to my own kids some day. I’ll always hope they feel loved and surprised every Christmas morning like I was.

10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Hmm, I think for me just the overall happy vibe that comes with Christmas. People get time off from work, students come home and are finished with finals, and it’s a great time to give back. Everyone always seems just a little bit happier. I know I’m definitely in a better mood when it starts to get a little bit chilly and rain starts falling (even though I don’t have the best wardrobe for cold weather). It’s also the end of one year and the start of something completely fresh and new. It’s so rejuvenating knowing a new year is coming with so many new possibilities. What better way to kick this off than with the Christmas season??

Real Neat Blog Award

real-neat-blog-award.jpg

Hey everyone! A while back I was nominated for the Real Neat Blog Award by Sarah and I am just getting the opportunity to answer the questions! A lot of them are focused on blogging, and since I love the topic, I knew I wanted to get involved in this award! Thanks you so much Sarah for the sweet nomination and for being so active on my blog all the time! Definitely check out her blog (it’s linked in her name above) because I really enjoyed reading her answers to these questions. They were genuine and lighthearted all at the same time! So without further ado, here are the rules for the award and my answers to the questions.

Rules

  • Put the award logo on your blog
  • Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blogs
  • Answer the 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you
  • Nominate any number of bloggers you really like, linking to their blogs
  • Let them know you nominated them
  • Ask your nominees 7 questions

Questions

  1. How would you describe your blogging style? I try to keep my writing as true to my speech as possible. When I’m writing, everything that is in my head goes through my fingers, onto the keyboard, and to the screen. Honestly, I should probably re-read my posts a little more carefully, but I like the personal touch my writing has. I hope it comes out lighthearted and something everyone can relate to. I think/hope it also has a bit of edge to it. I am brutally honest on this blog, especially when it comes to fashion and beauty items. But most of the time I will share products with my readers that I think will be interesting to them and things they will want to research more themselves. I hope my blogging style invites anyone and everyone to state their own opinions and be a part of a community that is supportive and genuinely caring.
  2. How do you motivate yourself to keep on blogging and posting good content? LOL, honestly sometimes it’s very hard to be consistent and post good content that someone will find intriguing. In the blogging, fashion, and beauty world, setting yourself apart means everything. Otherwise, you get caught in a sea of clones. The hardest thing for me has been finding those few things that make me especially different. The items I post on my blog are things I find really beautiful, but a lot of the time its something the rest of the beauty community finds beautiful, so my post sounds almost repetitive to other bloggers or content creators. I’m trying to find my way through this and be truly unique; but I think that comes with time.
  3. What would you say are the pros and cons of being a blogger? There are SO MANY pros when it comes to being a blogger. It is my greatest hobby, but blogging specifically has become so much more to countless people. The possibility of my hobby becoming something substantial is exciting to me and pushes me to be relentless with it. It is very similar to a relationship. The chase is a very exciting time because of the possibility of gaining something amazing and life changing from it. The fact that this blog could help me in my future career or one day could become my career is a great thought that one day I hope becomes reality. One of the cons is something I’ve mentioned before: consistency. It is one of the most important things you could do as a blogger, but also one of the hardest. We all have a life outside of WordPress, whether means being a full time student or having a demanding job.
  4. What is it that you genuinely find pure bliss in? Without hesitation, sitting by the ocean. Some of my favorite times in the summer is having a beach picnic, sitting in the sand with my toes buried, and watching the sunset. Even in the winter though, I love taking the time to enjoy God’s version of art. The colors of the moving sea with the fiery hues of the sun is a combination I can’t ever live without.
  5. If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your younger self? It’s funny this question is a part of the award because I have an entire post that basically answers this question. You can find that here if you’re interested. To sum it up, we all have so many different seasons in our lives that come and go. Go times and bad times. We need the bad to appreciate the good and that’s something I’ve really been trying to focus on lately.
  6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why? I’ve talked about traveling a lot on my blog, and I’ve mentioned many times before that my #1 place to travel to is London. I was so lucky to go there this summer and it was an absolute blast! The next places I would be absolutely ecstatic to visit would be Ireland, Scotland, and Santorini. There is so much history in Scotland and Ireland, which is something that really intrigues me about all of Europe. I was in Athens, Greece this summer which was very different from the island of Santorini, so I’d really love to see that. Hopefully one day I will be able to explore these places!
  7. What is your most dominant personality trait? In her post, Sarah asked those around her what her most dominant personality trait was. I thought this was a great idea so I did the same! According to my mom and sister, I am a perfectionist, thoughtful, and like being in control (LOL, thanks sis). Which honestly I think all of these are at least partly true. I am 100% a perfectionist, especially when it comes to art, design, and fashion. I really do take into consideration the thoughts of others and I worry about them (maybe more than I should). Lastly, I do like being in control. I like knowing what my plans are and where my life is going. Some could see this as a bad thing, but I see it as being focused and prepared, which is needed in most situations. A lot of things are out of your control, which I admit and definitely happens sometimes in life.

25 Questions Tag!

25 Questions Tag!

Found this 25 questions tag online and I thought they were pretty interesting and a way for you all to get to know me even better. If you like these questions, feel free to do the tag as well! So let’s get right on into it:

1. Do you have a middle name?

My middle name is Olivia.

2. What was your favorite subject in school?

I’d definitely have to say all the art classes I get to take. I love learning more about art history and art in general. Plus it’s fun to be in a class you can excel in.

3. What’s your favorite drink?

I love frappucinos or iced coffees, any kind really (I recently had Dunkin Donut’s Oreo Iced Coffee and it was beyond amazing). But they have to be decaf.

4. What’s your favorite song at the moment?

Honestly this changes a lot. But if you haven’t noticed, I’ve been loving songs from the Smallpools album. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Alt J. But Coldplay’s Clocks will always be my favorite song of all time.

5. What would you name your children?

If I had a boy, I really like the name Finn or Tristan. And I actually haven’t thought of any girl names haha. But it would be something unique and beautiful.

6. Do you participate in any sports?

When I was younger I played soccer for 8 years. In high school I played tennis. I don’t play sports anymore since I’m more interested in other things now.

7. What’s your favorite book?

The Great Gatsby. I read it in high school and found it so interesting and fell in love with it.

8. What’s your favorite color?

Definitely purple. Blue comes in a close second, though. Weirdly enough, I think I only own one purple clothing item.

9. What’s your favorite animal?

A bunny. It always has been. When I was a baby, my very first bedroom was bunny themed.

10. What’s your favorite perfume?

That’s hard to say since I am obsessed with one perfume at a time. Right now I’ve loved Bath and Body Works Oahu and Waikiki body sprays. They’re so summery and fresh. I do also love Chanel perfumes, they’re classic.

11. What’s your favorite holiday?

During Halloween, it’s Halloween. But during Christmas, it’s Christmas. I can never decide. XD

12. Have you graduated from High School?

Yes! Last year I graduated and have finished my first year in college and am LOVING it.

13. Have you been out of the country?

Sadly, no I haven’t. But once I am out of college I have big plans to travel all over Europe. I also might be going around Europe with the art department in a couple years so I’m crossing my fingers that that happens! I’d be going to all the different art museums in London, Paris, and more!

14. Do you speak any other languages?

I have basic knowledge of Spanish, but I’m definitely not fluent, so no. I’m trying out French during my time in college, though!

15. Do you have any siblings?

Yes, one younger sister!

16. What’s your favorite store?

I have to say Melrose in the O.C. which is a small boutique in my city. It makes up the majority of my wardrobe. But if we’re talking popular stores, I’d say Urban Outfitters, Topshop, and Nordstrom.

17. What’s your favorite restaurant?

This is a tough one since I eat at restaurants pretty often. I’d have to say Fisherman’s Wharf since it’s right on the beach and my boyfriend and I go on dates there pretty often. It’s perfect having some clam chowder in a bread bowl and watching the waves.

18. Do you like school?

Yes, I actually love college so much. I like it way more than high school. I love meeting new people everyday and living with my closest friends. Not to mention my school is gorgeous and right by the ocean.

19. Who are some of your favorite YouTubers?

I love CutiePieMarzia, Casey Neistat, Maddi Bragg, BuzzFeed, Zoella, and of course, Pewdiepie.

20. What’s your favorite movie?

About Time. I was actually meaning to make a post about this movie since I love it so much. It’s a romantic movie with Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams. It’s about a man who can time travel and uses it to win his love. It sounds weird, but trust me, it’s amazing and totally worth the watch.

21. What are some of your favorite T.V. shows?

Friends, Modern Family, Catfish, Once Upon A Time (actually haven’t watched that in a while), and sadly once in a while I do enjoy some Bravo T.V. shows like Real Housewives. I used to like a lot more T.V. shows but since I got to college and didn’t have many channels or the time to watch, I don’t keep up with many anymore.

22. PC or Mac?

Mac, always.

23. What phone do you have?

iPhone 6. I just got it a few months ago and I love it. It takes amazing photos and I actually like the big screen.

24. How tall are you?

I believe last time I measure I was 5’4″

25. Any pets?

I cannot have any at my school so, no. Throughout my childhood I had a total of three bunnies. They definitely brought so much joy to my childhood and great memories and pictures to look back on.

So that’s me, hope you enjoyed these questions! Have an amazing day 🙂
